Palazzo Erizzo Ligabue is a historic building overlooking the Grand Canal, in the heart of Venice. Built in the 15th century, it preserves the charm of Venetian architecture between Gothic and Renaissance styles, with its distinctive central quadrifora and refined decorative elements.
Today, owned by the Ligabue family, it is home to the Fondazione Ligabue: a place where historical memory intertwines with a renewed cultural life, while preserving its original identity and elegance.
To know and make known
Since 2017, Palazzo Erizzo has been home to the Fondazione Giancarlo Ligabue, established to carry forward the scientific and cultural legacy of the Ligabue Study and Research Center. Here, a diverse program of exhibitions, conferences, publications, and research projects unfolds, aimed at promoting knowledge and interdisciplinary dialogue. The palace thus stands as a dynamic center of cultural production, open to national and international collaborations.
Where Art and Culture Come Together
The spaces of Palazzo Erizzo have undergone a significant redevelopment project, aimed at making them accessible to the public and suitable for a variety of events. The design combines contemporary museum standards with traditional Venetian materials and techniques, such as pastellone and marmorino, creating refined and flexible environments.
The ground floor and the first piano nobile have been carefully restored using traditional construction methods. The spaces retain the intimate character of a historic residence, deliberately moving away from a conventional museum layout. The result is a contemplative and immersive visitor experience, where the aesthetic dimension intertwines with a sense of domesticity.
The palace thus takes shape as a true Palazzo delle Arti e delle Culture: a living space, a center for thought, welcoming encounters, cultural experiences, and exhibitions.
